Sample of Persuasive Speech

Good morning ladies and gentlemen,

It’s great to me to standing in front of you all. My name is Eti Evi Yulita. Today, I am going to tell a topic to discuss with you. The topic is “organ donor should be stopped”. I disagree with this statement. Why? Before I tell you my reasons, let me tell you a story. Last year, before I moved to my new house, I have neighbor. He got renal failure. He has sold his wealth to cure his disease. But, there is no change with his condition. Doctor suggests him to do transplantation. Unfortunately, His renal doesn’t suitable with his family. For your information, His wife was died and he lives with his old parents. Until now, doctor still find donors for him. Every three days, he must do dialysis to get life. Well, His life is just entered and exit from hospital. How if that condition happen to us? Can you imagine that?

Now, I am going to tell you my reasons why I stand to disagree if organ donor should be stopped. First, Organ donor can helpful for who need. Second, Organ donors have procedure to do it. Third, there is law to regulate about transplantation in our national law and our religion.

My first reason is organ donors can helpful who need. I think this is the common reasons why people do transplantation. Transplantation’s purpose is to substituting broken organ with new organ which suitable with recipient. Transplantation do because of there is no other ways to cure the recipient. Transplantation is not simple to do.  If there are any other options, I am sure that they will do the other ways. But if they do not have any other ways, transplantation is the only way to save them.  For instance, if someone got renal failure and we should be stopped to do transplantation, their life just for dialysis every day. They life is in suffering. They life but they do not. By doing transplantation they have change to life. It can save their life.

My second reason is organ donors have procedures to do it. Someone will do long medical checkup before they do transplantation. Doctor will check their healthy history. Doctor will check their possibility before and after they do transplantation.  The most important is organ that will take to transplantations must be suitable between donors and recipients. It does not do by general people and without procedures. Organ donors still save if it does by right procedures according to medical terms. They will not do transplantations if it doesn’t save for both of recipients and donors. Doctor usually check recipients ‘family before find other people. In common case, family has biggest probably suitable with recipients. If they suitable, doctor will check again what it will be going alright for donors healthy in the future.  It is not only about recipients but also donors’ life. We cannot judge that we should be stopped organ donor if organ donors do by right procedures. I think this is not justifiable.

My third reasons there is law to regulate about transplantation in our national law and our religion. Transplantations are not allowed for commercial reasons (UU No.36 Tahun 2009). Our national law just allow organ donor for human reasons. Someone who does transplantation for commercial purpose, they will get punishment if our government knows. You need to know if organ donor selling is illegal transaction. They done it but government do not know it. I think we should be stopped the transaction of selling organ not stopped organ donor for human reasons. This is not suitable reasons to stopped transplantation just because some people do it for their personal advantages but we forget the real function of transplantation. Then, there are three types of donors in transplantation. They are life donors, comma donors, and cadaver donors. In our religion, cadaver donor is mubah. But it doesn’t mean that life and comma donors are not allowed. It depends on the situation. For life donors, it is allowed if it is not vital organ and it will be not disturbing their life. For comma donors, it is allowed if they have not possible to life again and their family allowed giving his/her organ to recipients. So, this is not justifiable if we judge should be stopped organ donor just from one side without look the real condition.

From all of my reasons, I’ll summarize it. First, organ donor can help each other if there is no other ways to cure someone. Second, transplantations still save for both of donors and recipients because of  they do by right procedures. Third, everyone must know the law about transplantation before says to stopped transplantation. Transplantation is good to help each other if the reason is real for human reasons not for commercial reasons. Let’s we be more wise to see something, not only one side but let’s look to the other side.
